Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market, nestled about 10 kilometers east of downtown Bangkok, offers a charming and authentic glimpse into Thai market culture.
Unlike the bustling tourist-centric markets, Khlong Lat Mayom retains a local feel where vendors sell fresh produce, cooked dishes, and handicrafts from boats and stalls along the canal.
The market's allure lies in its laid-back atmosphere and the opportunity to savor diverse Thai flavors. Visitors can explore a wide array of street food delicacies, from spicy papaya salads to grilled seafood, all prepared fresh and bursting with flavors unique to Thai cuisine.
It's a place where eating out is a daily ritual rather than an occasional treat, reflecting the integral role of food in Thai daily life. Compared to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which is larger and more commercialized, Khlong Lat Mayom offers a more intimate experience.
Here, you're likely to encounter fewer tourists and more locals going about their shopping and dining routines. The market's emphasis on fresh ingredients and authentic culinary experiences sets it apart, making it a favorite among food enthusiasts seeking genuine Thai flavors without the tourist crowds.
In essence, Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market is a haven for those craving an authentic taste of Thai market culture, where every dish tells a story of tradition and local pride.

Serving a second chance
The The Hubpoei by Ruenthanont restaurant opened a year ago in front of Nonthaburi Provincial Prison and provides a vocational training course for young inmates soon to be released from detention, helping them reintegrate into society. And not one trainee has reoffended.
