Thailand's hill tribes are under pressure from local farmers and deforestation, and many now work as labourers in nearby cities, giving up on their once nomadic lifestyle. But not everyone agrees on changing the traditions that once defined the life of these tribes.

A very exciting morning was spent visiting an area of Northern Thailand where the villages of 5 Hill Tribes have been established, essentially as a tourist attraction.
The Tribes people have been provided with free housing, rice, education for their children and a means to generate income for their families and in return, profit is being generated for the landowners from the tourist dollar.
