Johnny Reimar (born Reimar Kristensen June 12, 1943 in Odense) is a Danish singer, guitarist, producer, writer and television host. He made his breakthrough in 1961, where he worked as a part of The Cliff's debut on record, and at the same time changed his name to Johnny Reimar.

After playing in the school orchestra at Korsløkke School, won in 1958 at the age of 15, together with his band The Ready Rock Boys an amateur competition in Funen Tivoli. That same year he debuted with his first professional job at the inauguration of Allesø Hall on Funen. In 1959 the band changed its name to The Cliff's and went two years later in first place on the Danish singles charts with the hit How wonderful to know. Subsequently, they toured Germany and Northern Europe and appeared in 1962 as a backing band in Cirkusrevyen [1]. In 1963, The Clifters dissolved and Johnny Reimar formed instead band The Scarlets also quickly became popular and got more hits in on the Danish charts.

In 1964, he switched from singing English-language rock to become a soloist in Danish, as he recorded the Little Freckled Louise, which sold over 100,000 copies. The song was picked up in Sweden, where the group Sven-Ingvar had been very successful in combining the new barbed music with the traditional schlager, and Reimars Danish edition was the first serious attempt the same in Denmark.

Subsequently, he had several hits, including You should buy yourself a tyrolerhat (1969), Sikk 'a party we've had now in the night (1972), Olé it was in Spain (1972), Vol your yellow hair band (1972) and Eviva Espana (1972) and later the unofficial football song Halli, halli, hello - we win in Mexico (1986). He managed the next 25 years to fill the country's sports halls with his Party orchestra. In 1970 launched Johnny Reimar its popular Party-series, which together have sold more than 1 million copies. Around the early 1980s, he was also great success with the hit "Smølfesangen" as he toured around the country in conjunction with the "Smurfs". In 1987 he participated in the Danish Eurovision Song Contest with the song Tell me huh you up. That same year, The Cliff's restored, and began a tour with more than 2,000 concerts.

In the summer of 1999, Reimar at the Roskilde Festival quadruple platinum plate for a triple CD with Reimars greatest successes and achieved at the same time a kind of cult status among the young audience, not unlike that which Paul Kjøller had some years earlier.
